Acupoints also known as Acupuncture points are the specific locations on your body that are the focus of acupuncture treatments. There are 360 different points on the hand, feet, head, back and over your major organs. Within these, there are 14 major channels on the body- where acupuncture needles are inserted. The method of acupuncture involves inserting thin needles into the patient’s skin at varying depths. The needles go into different points of our body’s meridians, which, defined by Chinese medicine, are vital energy pathways.
How Does Acupuncture Work?
In traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is linked to the belief that disease is caused by disruptions to the flow of energy, or qi, in the body. One major hypothesis is that acupuncture works through neurohormonal pathways. Simply put, you put the needle through specific points in the body and stimulate the nerve.
